Chapter Fourteen
Enrique
Inside he led me into what looked like some sort of treatment room with a mattress on the floor in the center and shelves laden with oils, lotions, and ointments.
I held up my hands in a defensive gesture. “What is all that…stuff?” I gestured at the shelves.
“I have a talent for helping and healing people. I thought you could use a little pampering.”
Although I knew what the word meant, it still sounded foreign. Frightening. “In exchange for what?”
“In exchange for you feeling better. That’s all.”
It wasn’t all. It never was. “Lukas won’t be joining us?”
“Lukas and his father need to talk. Under the circumstances, it’s better if I look after you.”
I wondered what circumstances he meant, but decided the less I knew about Lukas, the better. I didn’t even want to think about him anymore.
He gripped my shoulder. “Just relax. Let your demon out when you need to. I can handle it. Do you mind if I turn on some music? It helps me focus.”
“Whatever.” I doubted I’d be comfortable no matter what happened.
Felipe put a CD in the player. Soft classical guitar music sounded from the speakers. “Lie down on your stomach.”
I compromised by sitting on the mattress, knees drawn to my chest. Being the object of such direct attention made me uneasy. Bad things tended to happen when I was alone with a man and not in control. “Why are you doing this?”
He picked a couple bottles from the shelves, then knelt beside me. “Because everyone, human or cambion, deserves a little compassion.”
Right. “Not because Lukas put you up to it?”
“Lukas is the Chief Warden. Because of who and what you are, El Cadejo, he doesn’t trust any of the other staff with you.”
Or Andy, apparently. “But you’re more than just staff.” I could just imagine the two of them in bed, Lukas on top, thrusting hard as Felipe gasped, his mouth wide and sensual until Lukas covered it with his own.
Damn it.
“He’s my lover, friend, and teacher, and he’s also a pain in the ass.”
“Literally?”
Felipe laughed. “Oh, no. Trust me; he’s very good in bed.”
I didn’t doubt it. Just the little taste I’d had was enough to make me long for more. Or was it Andy I wanted? Their scents had been similar enough to confuse me. Lukas was older, more experienced. Andy was the opposite, innocent and unaware of the pleasure his body was capable of. My cock hardened just thinking about the way he’d lain beneath me and how his face had tightened when he’d climaxed.
Not that Felipe was a bad catch; he just didn’t affect me in quite the same way. He was handsome, with a classical Latin complexion, and solidly built without being hypermasculine. It was easy to see what Lukas admired in him, both physically and as a partner.
“Lie down.” He set a hand on my shoulder.
Reluctantly, I unfolded myself and stretched out, facedown, on the mattress. Goose bumps pricked my skin. I didn’t like feeling so vulnerable. Then Felipe’s hands were on my back, ticklish rather than comforting.
